POETIC DEATH: For those of you that have ordered merch from him recently, your packages are now on their way (those of you who are in this batch will also be receiving a free CD for the wait). He's been posting photos of all the packages he's mailing out today, so be on the look out. With so much to mail out, the post office provided him with a cart. Poe followed that with words of thanks: "Here at the post office, had so many boxes and envelopes that they had to give me a cart. It means the world to me everyone, honestly. It's not just my music you are spreading, it's an ideal and lifestyle that so many are unaware of. Thank you all very much, and I will try my best to get better with the timing of these orders. Peace and bless up!" If you haven't yet picked up some Von Poe gear, stroll on over to his official website or to his Bandcamp page and pick your poison!
VIDA KILLZ: If you don't already follow this woman on her Facebook fan page, you should go do that. Aside from important music updates and that kind of thing, Vida seems to be a kind-hearted, good-spirited, loving person who is willing to open her heart and be vulnerable to share personal stories from her life. You'll learn a lot about her through her music already, but also behind the scenes, stories, and actions (example: mailing out holiday cards to anyone who wants them). I like that she tries to throw in a positive perspective about a lot of things, too--this morning, she woke up with a sore throat and fever, but is happy to be surrounded by love.
As Thanksgiving was nearing, Vida also wrote a heartfelt status about the sorrow she felt with her grandma not being there to celebrate the holidays, and that it was the same time of year when they heard of her condition and prognosis. She divulged a touching, heart-melting story behind some lyrics ("Miss your tender love // Your words that always knew // And your sweet, sweet heart // I'll listen to this clock to remember how it // Tic tic tok'd // I'll listen to this watch to remember how it tic tic tok'd") on her "Queen of Hearts" track.
I remember sitting at my Grandmother's dinner table in pure silence with her when suddenly I heard a very loud tick. I looked around for a clock and found none near by that I could imagine being loud enough. I asked her what that noise was. Her reply, "My heart." She went on to tell me that she had an artificial value that regulated the blood pulsating through her beautiful heart. After that, I used to hug her just to hear it. And after she passed away, I heard the tick again. It was my lover's watch. That wee little watch seemed to soothe my soul when nothing else could and still does.
I know some of you will be with family, be reflecting on loved ones lost, or be receiving news of loved ones soon to arrive or even depart. For the cycles of life are always abundant. No matter where you are on this spectrum or what you may be thinking on, I just want to express a huge hug to your spirit and wish you all a beautiful Holiday Season.
SOULCAT E-PHIFE: On her Tumblr page, she lets everyone know that she's been creating some beats for a special collaboration. Though she'll tell us more in the near future, we're left with this tid-bit of information: "It's straight female power from the Dominican Republic, and even while I'm surrounded by latin salsa and merengue, I'm still true to hip hop and the street soul." Listen to small sample of one of the beats that she brewed up in yesterday's session. "Choppin’ up some piano samples I found, messin’ with it till it sounded smooth, then gettin’ the slap bass on to make it roll. I mixed in some cuts in as well. We gonna turn this into a butter smooth song, that’s a promise." Stay tuned for more information!
BONNIE BLUE: Before I get into the larger part of this Bonnie update, go ahead and stream a rough mix of a song called "Cry Me A River" that she posted up on Soundcloud a few days ago. Now that you've done that... let me tell you about something awesome. Bonnie Blue is now a co-host on Crappy Awesome! So, of course, she is on their latest episode where she sits with (Mr)Arash and C-Rey of CA to welcome her to the podcast, joke with her about being a newbie, and hold intelligent conversations about a lot of random things. This is where the hosts form a roundtable to share adventures, get to know each other, and laugh a lot. Bonnie talks about how she thinks she became a host for the site; she shares her thoughts on religion; they express the desire to know the scientific explanation behind inspiration and creativity; voting and ideas of change comes up; types of relationships and relationship statuses; and much more. Find it on the website!
GAVLYN: Brand new interview with Gavlyn was released! She was at the New Era Store in London for an exclusive interview with Shay D of UKHH. Gav speaks about what Organized Threat represents, how she got started with rapping, the Los Angeles hip hop scene, her dream to work with the Gorillaz, her love for the Spice Girls (I was a huuuuuge Spice Girls fan back in my younger days), how she's grown as an artist, and much more. WATCH THAT NOW!
DEVOUR: Devour recently celebrated passing 400,000 views on his "Troubles" music video. Watch that video! Devour said on Facebook, "400K AND STILL RUNNING!!! S/O ALL MY PEOPLE HOLDING YA BOY DOWN!! AND A BIG SHOUT OUT TO ALL MY "REAL" DEVOUR UP HEADS!!! HAPPY TURKEY DAY YALL HAVE A GOOD ONE!"
FEGGY MIN: Feggy has been sharing some more shots from her photo session with Andres Herren. With this photo, she said: "About to kill the scene! Comin' from a small ass country, where people only know about our mountains & cheese, we will make our name & art heard all over the globe! A movement filled with ambition and passion to always take it to the next level! [9889] soon you will know..." Then there was this dope posse shot, which included OgT member Sara Fleur. Tell me you don't want something from her new collection! It's all lookin' really cool--although, did we expect any different? Nope! Are you ready for the new FeggyMin9889 takeover?!
That's about it for today. Have a great weekend!
Love and positivity, Tiffology of CrayonBeats
