Respect the lyrics

VON POE VII / POETIC DEATH:

Poe dropped his first music video of 2015, and the first off of his latest project, The Purity of Love and War. Yup, it's for "Basquiat". The intro of the song quotes Jay-Z in an interview, where he talked in length about being inspired by Jean Michel Basquiat. He goes in to talk about the world's love and hate battle with success, and how success changes people with it and without it. Produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto, the song's production has a melancholy sweetness, due to the mellow rhythm of deep piano notes, warm violin strokes, and that soulful back-up vocal (to which I assume is Saeed's contribution). We then hear a strong-willed Poe rapping about the positive, inspirational people in his life, and how he'll always strive for greatness, despite any negative opinions, setbacks he may face, and the friendships he's lost due success and/or egos. It's such a powerful song, with a message of hope and recognizing self-worth. The music video is just as touching as the subject matter, too. The video follows him running forward, down an open road, and I feel that it represents a carefree, unstoppable freedom towards possibility and opportunity. It also shows you the every day happiness and support that surrounds him--his family, his friends, and his love.

It's so beautiful, from beginning to end. Be sure to check the music video below, or by clicking THIS LINK to watch it in HD. Directed by Chad A. Marshall, of course! "A toast to greatness // They build me up to break me down, to build me up again // They said, 'Poe, we need you back, so we can kill your ass again.'"

Poe is all about giving and showing love to his fans. Almost 2 weeks ago, he started selling The Purity of Love and War CDs on his website. The price, you ask? Just pay for shipping! On a "one copy per person" basis, he is giving away the CDs for free, all you have to do is pay for the shipping costs. Dope, right?! He ships worldwide, too, so anyone and everyone can get this. Make sure you hit up HIS WEBSITE to grab yours, before they run out.

PAPA J. RUIZ:

We all know that Papa J's HR-1955 album drops on March 25th. But, did you know that you can PRE-ORDER THE ALBUM NOW?! Go show your love and support by grabbing that with the quickness! You also get "Me Against The World" when you buy it early (the music video is soaring past 40,000 views!). The album features 17 tracks in total, and you'll hear production by Joogy Music, Rellim, Ruman, Chin Chiller, Juice Blenda, Illusive Relm, Wonder Breed, Urbin Klex, SLJ BEATS, Endure, and MAC. PRE-ORDER HERE. However, if you need to wait until it releases before buying it (via Bandcamp or iTunes), that's OK, too.

Don't forget about the EXCLUSIVE album listening party, either. As a reminder, that goes down on MARCH 24TH, AT KMG STUDIOS, FROM 7PM to 9PM. There are only 50 seats available, so you better get there early/on time. All of those that secure a seat will receive a free signed CD of the album, too. Find more info (such as the exact location) on this flyer.

While you wait for the album and the listening party, why don't you watch the brand new Papa J. Ruiz music video?! It's for his song "Live Free", off the forthcoming album, and you don't wanna sleep on it. Over a head-nodding, bass-thumping, crispy beat (produced by MAC), Papa J. lays down hard-hitting rhymes laced with thought-provoking honesty, ill wordplay, and a cool, effortless flow. Between his dope verses about his work ethic, his strive to reach his dreams, and DIY lifestyle, he speaks on the praise and success he's received by being HIMSELF, rather than adopting some false reality to be like other, more glorified / popular rappers ("And I could sell my soul for the glitter and gold // Then blow, like my name was Em, Drake, Wayne, or Hov"). The whole song is dope as fuck. I love that he lets it be known that an expensive lifestyle and materialistic items (that he doesn't have) will never define him as a person or determine how dope he is as a lyricist; and in the same line, the setbacks and supposed bad life situations he's in will never burn out the torch that he holds with a vice grip, sprinting towards his goals. That hook/bridge comes with a punch, too: "If I had the bitches, would you like me more // If I had the riches, would you like me more? // If I had the glocks in your face, motherfucker // Tell me, would you fuck with me some more?" UGHHHH, YES. Check it out below, or CLICK THIS LINK to watch the video in HD.

There's an unexpected, hilarious pause in the middle of the video that shows a skit-like clip of Poe tellin' Koolz One and another dude to cop the new album... and the things they say will make you laugh. Or, it did for me. Cameos from Von Poe VII, Joogy Music, Koolz One, Xican Brown, Mook, and Lucy B.

SONNY SEV:

The vector art work that you see Sonny Sev rocking in his Facebook and Twitter profile pictures (shown above), was done by me (excluding the text; he added those). The art is being used to promote his fothcoming album, titled Localz Only, but is not the album art. :)

YARAH BRAVO:

Earlier this month, Yarah announced that she'll be flying to Dubai in April. I've seen pictures of that place, and it is beautiful - I just know that she'll be posting all kinds of amazing stories and/or lovely shots while she's there. She has yet to announce the details regarding that trip, so stay tuned to her social media pages for that information.

When Yarah Bravo had a show with Akua Naru a couple of days ago, they asked that she perform with a live band. Positive response and several requests later, she's making it more than a temporary, one-time thing. Read the post below to see how she feels about changing her one-woman show, to be backed by a live band for more shows!

After performing shows in Delemont, Switzerland, Yarah Bravo has left (on a jet plane adventure), and is continuing her movement. In regards to upcoming shows, she will be performing in Belgium, on March 27th, alongside Reverie. She also secured a placement at the Hip Hop Open, in Austria, on July 17th (flyer). She will be sharing the same stage as A$AP Rocky, The Underachievers, and others.

Last Thursday, she posted a video from when she was in One Self (a hip hop trio, including DJ Vadim and BluRum 13 -- early One Self fan right here!), performing at Hip Hop Kemp in 2005--WATCH HERE. About the video, she said, "When I look at myself, I see myself so innocent and tiny, just a little kid. But I remember I felt so big hahahaha like I had made it."

One of my favorite songs from her Love Is The Movement album, released almost a year ago (whoa, time flew by), received the visual treatment. I'm talking about "Carousel", produced by TrommelTobi! Kick back and relax to this soothing, beautiful song, as you watch a smiling-faced Yarah fly through the air, on a swing ride. Round and round we go...

I'm going to share with you two entries that she made, regarding the beauty of being a human being and a woman. The first was from March 8th, and the second was from March 13th.

"I'm human. just like you.
i have moments of weakness. just like you. i'm vulnerable. But i feel connected ... when i meet people and they express to me incredible things about myself i never let it go to my head. i let it go into my heart. i stay humble. i'm careful with my word. i'm careful with my thoughts. I let them remain as positive as possible. Cause i know the power they carry. But i would be a liar if i told you i don't have fears. I would be a liar if i told you i don't feel pain. I feel connected. Just like a reflection of our world. A reflection of our universe. An organism of duality. I can transform my thoughts from hate to love, from fear to courage by consciously raising my vibration. So what was once seen as pain. Can be seen only through eyes of love. When your perspective changes. Everything changes..."

"I love being a woman. Feel my warmth.
I am a woman today. yesterday and tomorrow. till the day i die i will take pride in my womanhood. i will hold my head high for my womanhood. I know we still have a long way to go, yes brothers and sister, we do! But i am proud to be out here representing for my women, for my sisters, for my mothers and my daughters. I love you all so much! Same goes out to the men who pushes for us, who uplifts us on a daily basis. Nothing But Love.
Until we embrace woman for what she truly is, the magic around us will not be truly seen due to our closed hearts....
Embrace the gift of love. Embrace the gift of healing.
Embrace the gift of Life.
Side by side. Heads High. We shall rise.

SOULCAT E. PHIFE:

Soulcat hinted that she's been in the studio, taking Music Academy Classes. "Can't wait to finish my record soon ;) Soulcat the producer :D," she said. To give you an idea, she shared a video to a song that she produced. WATCH ON FACEBOOK. It has a futuristic, electro dance jam flare, and I like that kind of vibe.

On March 20th, she will be spinning at NewPoint, in Vienna, Austria. If you're in the area, you might want to pop in, stay for drinks and good tunes. She'll be playing funky house music for ya! Plus, it's free. Check the Facebook Event for more information.

KOOLZ ONE:

Koolz will be dropping his Writers Block EP this week. Are you ready for that? He was recently spotted in the studio with Xican Brown, and he also posted a sneak peek track from a couple weeks ago. Be sure to watch his session in the new BARS series, down at the bottom.

At the end, you'll hear the cute, little voice of his daughter, too (hearing her say "Organized Threat is the future" is a sweet touch, aww). Resting power level that's over nine-thousaaaaaaaand.

JG recently went live with some t-shirts. There are two designs (for men and women), and they're only available for a limited time. There's a Triglyceride Mask design, and the other has his Stay Still album cover. Follow THIS LINK to check 'em out, and buy yours before it ends.

BARS SERIES

Organized Threat now has a new video series, called "BARS". As you might have already guessed, this series will focus on the emcees of the movement, by showcasing their lyrical abilities. The first session is called "Writers Block" and it features KOOLZ ONE. With an aggressive delivery, he spits dark, soul-crushing bars that might strike fear into those who oppose him, over an minimal, ominous cinematic beat (it's mostly just a background sound, so as to put all focus on the emcee rapping). Watch the video below, or click it to watch in HD.

The second session is called "Timas Camp Flow", and it features XICAN BROWN. Over the same sound, Xican Brown comes with a more laid-back delivery, letting his poetic, fearless rhymes swing with a verbal punch, as he stands tall like a pillar of strength against all odds. "The day that they break me // That will be the day that God kisses Lucifer's feet - you crazy? // That won't happen // Nor will I give you satisfaction of you laughing // While I'm getting kicked and whipped, like Christ passion." Check out the video below, or click it to watch in HD.
